The templates that will help you streamline your workflow and create professional patterns in half the time!
Why use a template?
Do you ever...
Stare at a blank canvas not knowing where to start?
Find it really hard to create a natural flow in your pattern?
Spend ages trying to get motifs to fit together in repeat?
Struggle to fix big spaces in your patterns?
Spend ages on just one pattern only to realise it doesn't look right?
If any of these sound familiar, using a pattern template may be the way forward for you!
Pattern templates are a basic sketch that already works perfectly in repeat. As the artist, all you need to do is fill draw in your own motifs over the top with your own brushes, style and palette! Once you're ready to make the repeat you know it is going to come together perfectly.
Using a template allows you to gain back the time you spend making everything fit together, and it allows you to focus on the fun part - creating art that you love!
You can see below how a simple sketch line drawing can be developed into a beautiful and balanced pattern.

Is pack 2 different from pack 1?
Yes! You may have already enjoyed templates from my original pack of sketch templates, and if so, you will know how these work.
Pack 2 has 20 brand new and unique templates to enjoy! There are no duplicates with pack 1.
It's also worth mentioning, you don't need to get pack 1 before pack 2, they are independent of each other, so you can get them in any order.
However, the basic idea is exactly the same, and as with pack 1, the templates are divided into 5 different categories which will help you decide on the style you'd like to go for with each pattern.
What are the categories for pack 2?
Structured

The four templates in the 'Structured' category provide a ready-made framework for your designs, and give you plenty of scope to fill these structures with anything you like, whether that's postage stamps, seed packets or leaf stamps!
Floral

Floral patterns are always going to be in demand and I have a mix of different styles in this category, with space to add in your own motifs, as well as a mosaic style floral print which it will be fun to add your own style to!
Non Directional

Non directional patterns (where the pattern can be viewed any way up) are a staple for sewists and many small businesses making handmade products. That's why these types of patterns are always in demand on Spoonflower and are often chosen for licensing. The patterns in this category give you maximum flexibility for your own theme and motif choices but ensure your patterns will always be spaced perfectly and can be viewed from any direction.
Rectangular

I was keen to include a section for rectangular canvases as we rarely make use of other shapes other than squares when we create patterns! These work in exactly the same way as the square templates but allow you to include taller motifs. These are particularly useful for wallpaper prints.
Seasonal

This is a fun final category which breaks the mould a bit and provides very specific shapes for you use in your seasonal patterns. Flower pots for Spring, ice creams for Summer, autumn veg for Autumn (or 'Fall' for my American friends!) and decorations for Winter. Enjoy bringing your own style into these patterns - seasonal patterns are always in demand and are great ones to share on social media too!
How do they work?
If you have never used a pattern sketch template before, you can download one for free here (this one is not in pack 2) and follow my YouTube tutorial below to make the pattern.
The templates in the pack work in exactly the same way, but also come with a short tutorial tailored to the specific templates you purchase.

I want to purchase the pack number 2 (I have pack 1), but would like to use PayPal. Is that possible?
Feeling so empowered to just doodle on a template and have a beautiful design in a few short minutes. So glad I picked up this pack.
Just downloaded pattern template pack 2 and I'm super excited! I already own pack 1 and they have been so helpful! Your blog posts and tutorials are thoroughly explained. Thank you for your generous guidance :)
Hi Jasmine! These look so helpful! Would you be offering a bundle of pack 1 and 2? I used one of the freebie ones already to create this roses pattern https://kirstinreayartist.com/pages/coming-up-roses-collection and I’m keen to try more! Your blog posts are really inspiring to me as a beginner 💕
Excited for the release of these new templates.
